Personal views on the MCWB program

The MCWB project is an innovative and aims idea to gather in Brazil conservationist and researchers from Russia, India, Brazil and Albania to brain storming and exchanging their experience. The trip to Brazil and MCWB implementation helped me understand the conservation methodology and efforts made by my colleagues in the state of Bahia and in a larger scale as well (whole country). The meetings with the local researchers and conservationist made me understand the ways of mitigation and problems solving. The local and federal organization of environmental institutions was a very interesting experience for me, since I am from a very small country with a total surface almost the same with the third smallest country in Brazil (Alagos).

The trips to protected areas like Caraiva and Abrohlos were a fantastic experience. I had the opportunity to meet some animals that are not native in my region and had a lot of information about their biology and ecology, and the conservation efforts, as well. The devotion and love of the rangers and other conservation crue was a very good example. Such experince will improve my  lobbying and teaching skills for the students, personel of MPA and relevant institutions in my country with who I have to deal.

The lectures with the students was an another very important result of this trip. I was surprised from their interest during the whole lecture, I was expecting it during the part I was talking about my country, which I had to admit was something totally new for them and most had not ever heared anything about the existence of Albania, but even for its environmental issues. I felt really proud and determined during the questions session. They were totally focust on the marine conservation efforts, and reacted to such environmental issues mentioned during the lecture as: habitat destroy, overhunting, turism, captivity, industry etc. The very best moment generating a feeling of enermous proud was when I got a question from one of the smallest attendants. He asked me about the way he can give his own contribution to sea turtle conservation. It made me believe that the lecture was worth it and I had a great impact on them. It arose in them something new, the desire to contribute. Looks like in the future, with a few encouraging and commitement efforts this area will have some devoted conseravationists.  At the end, this was one of the aims of our project.
